Final Design

The final design for the playground replacement at Barber Mill Park will include;

  • New playground equipment within the 2 existing play areas.
  • An accessible ramp and new engineered wood fibre safety surfacing will also be included with each of the play areas.
  • 1 new bench, centrally located between the 2 play areas.
  • A new raised grass seating area. Existing shrubs within the parks existing central planting area will be removed and replaced with grass, providing a variety of shaded seating options. Additionally this will improve visibility and connectivity between the existing play areas.

The final design strikes a balance between, toddler, junior and senior user needs, offering a range of developmentally appropriate activities within the accessible structures.

Through the public consultation there were some questions regarding the possibility of having larger park features such splash pad elements included as part of this project. Please note that the Town's standard is to include these larger park features within community level parks, where adequate facilities and infrastructure are available, and would not be considered for a park of this size.

Our anticipated timeline is for park construction to be completed fall 2019.

Thank you again for your continued support and feedback throughout this process.
