The Hamlet of Stewarttown and adjoining expansion lands to the southwest were identified as part of the preferred growth option for Sustainable Halton in 2009 and a secondary plan needs to be completed prior to any development. Once completed, the Stewarttown Secondary Plan will identify the most appropriate mix of land uses in the area and incorporate best practices for community development while establishing housing density targets for the new community.

Along with the Vision Georgetown and Southeast Georgetown lands, the Stewarttown expansion lands (approximately 80 acres) were included as part of Official Plan Amendment 10 (OPA 10) and designated ‘Future Residential/Mixed Use Area’. The Secondary Plan will facilitate the conversion of the expansion lands to residential uses, while maintaining the existing character of the surrounding area. The plan’s vision and guiding principles will complement the Town’s Strategic Plan priorities, while meeting objectives for the Future Residential/Mixed Use Areas set out in OPA 10.

The Stewarttown Secondary Plan will align with Provincial and Regional plans and its development will be a community-integrated process, shaped by input from the public and key stakeholders.

  • The following survey was introduced at the first virtual public Open House held on October 27, 2021.  It’s a brief survey (only six questions) about the proposed land use options under consideration for the Secondary Plan.

Results from the survey will help identify further goals and objectives for the area, issues, opportunities and site-specific considerations. We welcome your input.
