Off-Leash Dog Park - Trafalgar Sports Park

Meet some of the potential leash-free park users (from left: Zuess, family, Cole and Copper.)

The Town of Halton Hills is working in collaboration with Leash Free Halton Hills on a proposal for an off-leash dog park at Trafalgar Sports Park. To accommodate the leash-free zone, some of the other proposed park amenities would need to be reduced in size or eliminated.

The updated Trafalgar Sports Park Master Plan notes the following amenities:

  • A parking area
  • An area for court sports (beach volleyball or tennis)
  • A community amenity zone (playground, washroom building, splash pad)
  • A community green zone (sports field and event space)
  • A youth activity zone (skate park, BMX, multi-courts). Click here for more details.

The proposal put forward by Leash Free Halton Hills includes general provisions such as fencing and signage as well as surfacing, grading and parking and additional features such as a shelter, trees, benches, picnic tables, water supply, water play and lighting. See proposed park here.

Final approval of this project will be subject to approval of the capital budget and consideration of the input received through this consultation.
