Economic Development & Tourism Strategy

Halton Hills’ new five-year Economic Development and Tourism Strategy (2021-2026) was approved by Town Council on February 1, 2021. The new strategy builds on numerous successes that have been achieved in recent years, as well as actions that are ongoing. These achievements provide a solid foundation from which to pursue the next stage of economic development initiatives and programs in Halton Hills.

Council and the community were consulted on the Strategy Priorities that formed the basis of the new strategy via a Let’s Talk Halton Hills survey that ran between July 17 and August 7, 2020. As appropriate, the goals, objectives and actions appearing in the final Economic Development and Tourism Strategy reflect this feedback.

Thank you to all the stakeholder involved for playing an important role in solidifying the Town’s economic development and tourism vision for the next five years.

A practical Implementation Plan is currently being developed for the new strategy, that will include timelines, budget requirements, outcome measurements and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). A forthcoming Economic Resiliency and Recovery Framework document will also supplement the strategy and provide further direction for economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
