Help us fine tune the design for Cedarvale Playground!
The Town is planning the replacement and enhancement of the playground at Cedarvale Park. Focusing on inclusive and collaborative play, we want to create a unique and engaging community park playground destination, where users of all ages and abilities can access and enjoy the benefits of play.
Through the first round of consultation in 2023, we heard the following themes:
emphasis on natural materials and feeling to compliment the natural setting
improved access to playground location
inclusive and broad range of play options desired
swings and climbers
water and sand play
rubber safety surfacing like Dominion Gardens playground
drinking fountain with bottle fill station
Based on the consultation themes and vision for the playground, Town staff carried out a request for proposal process with play equipment companies to select equipment and an overall design to achieve those goals.
This second (and final) round of consultation will fine tune the design to make the playground even better. Please participate in the survey below to learn more about the features of the playground design and provide feedback. Please review the playground design images in the documents section.
What's next?
Once we’ve received all feedback from the second round of consultation, we'll make design changes as required and finalize the design.
Equipment will be ordered and the Town will prepare for construction and installation of the new playground this fall. The final design and more accurate construction timelines will be shared with the public later this year.
About Cedarvale Park
Cedarvale Park is a 16-hectare (40-acre) community park located in the heart of Georgetown, at 181-185 Main Street South. The park itself takes its name from its farming heritage, as it was home to Cedar Vale Farm , which once marked the southern edge of town.
Today, the park offers a range of recreational services and amenities including the playground, soccer fields, an off leash dog park, disc golf, picnic shelter, access to the Hungry Hollow Trail network, as well as naturalized and open green space.
